Five Local SEO Fixes a Dallas Business Can Make This Month

Google shows three businesses in the map pack and most searchers never look further. These five fixes move a Dallas business toward that box fastest, starting with the Google Business Profile.

Someone in Dallas is searching for what you sell right now. “Plumber near me.” “Emergency dentist Dallas.” “Best tacos in Bishop Arts.” Google answers with a map and three businesses, and most people pick one of those three without scrolling.

Local SEO is how you get into that box. Most of it is slow work, but some of it is not. These are the five fixes we make first for a new client, because they pay off in weeks rather than months.

1. Finish your Google Business Profile

The Google Business Profile is the single biggest lever in local search. It decides whether you appear in Maps, in “near me” results and in voice answers.

Most profiles we audit are half-finished. Check four things:

  • Primary category. Pick the most precise one available. It matters more than almost anything else on the profile.
  • Services. List every one, each with a plain description.
  • Hours, photos and posts. Keep them current. A profile that looks abandoned ranks like one.
  • Service area. Name the areas you actually serve, and no more.

2. Make your name, address and phone identical everywhere

Google cross-checks your business across Yelp, Facebook, Bing, Apple Maps and industry directories. If one listing says “LLC”, another has an old phone number and a third has a suite number the others lack, Google trusts all of them a little less.

Audit every listing, pick one exact version, and correct the rest. Delete duplicates while you are there.

3. Ask for reviews, and answer every one

Reviews are one of the strongest local signals Google uses, and they are what a searcher reads before choosing between the three businesses in the map pack. Ask right after a good job, send a direct review link by text or email so it takes ten seconds, and reply to every review — the critical ones most of all.

4. Write for neighborhoods, not just “Dallas”

Dallas is dozens of markets. Ranking in Uptown is a different job from ranking in Oak Cliff or Lakewood. Publish useful pages about the specific areas you serve, with details only someone working there would know. Thin copies with the town name swapped do more harm than good.

Prominence is one of the three things Google weighs for local results, and it comes from being recognized around town. A chamber membership, a sponsored youth team, a partnership with a business that serves the same customers — each one is a link and a mention that a national competitor cannot buy.

What the first fix can do

In the $68,000 campaign we documented, the Google Business Profile was rebuilt alongside indoor screens and geofencing. Calls and direction requests from Google Maps rose 140% in the first 60 days. That was one client in one period, with other channels running at the same time — but the profile was the piece that turned familiarity into phone calls.

Where screens fit

None of this replaces being known. A searcher who has already seen your name on an indoor billboard at their gym or coffee shop is more likely to pick you out of the three. Local SEO gets you into the box; recognition gets you chosen from it.
