How We Booked $91,000 for a Concrete Coating Contractor

Guardian Concrete Coatings was losing broad search terms to national brands. We narrowed the targeting to the neighborhoods that actually buy, tested visual creative, and the campaign returned 20x.

Targeted local advertising creative built for a home services contractor

Homeowners hiring a contractor are making one of the larger financial decisions of their year. They want someone they can trust. What they get, when they search, is a page of national brands and paid placements — and the local specialist doing better work is nowhere on it.

Guardian Concrete Coatings had that problem. Premium flooring for garages, patios, basements and commercial spaces, a reputation built on craftsmanship, and a lead flow that kept getting more expensive to sustain as national home improvement brands bid up the same search terms.

What we changed

Two things, both narrowing rather than broadening.

We stopped advertising to the metroplex. Instead of buying the whole DFW area, we identified the specific neighborhoods whose housing stock and demographics matched Guardian’s existing best customers. Most of the ad budget had been reaching people who were never going to buy a premium garage floor. Cutting them out left more money for the people who would.

We let the work sell itself. Concrete coating is a visual product — the before-and-after is the pitch. We built and tested multiple creative variants around those transformations rather than writing clever copy about them, then sent the traffic to a landing page built for one action: request a quote.

The proof point

$91,000 in closed, booked revenue during the initial campaign flight, at a 20x return on ad spend across all active networks.

That is the number worth holding onto, because it came from spending less on a smaller audience rather than more on a bigger one.

Why this transfers

Most local contractors are fighting for the same broad keywords against companies with far deeper pockets, and losing slowly. The way out is usually not a bigger budget. It is a tighter definition of who you are actually trying to reach, and creative that shows the work instead of describing it.

If your customers come from a handful of ZIP codes, there is no reason to pay to reach the rest of the metroplex. Our display and geofencing work draws that boundary explicitly, and our indoor billboard network puts the same brand in front of those people in the rooms where they already spend time. Pairing the two is what keeps a local contractor visible without competing on budget.

For businesses where most inquiries start with a map search rather than a web search, the same logic applies to your Google Business Profile — it is the cheapest local visibility available, and most contractors leave it half-finished.
